Bintulu tax payers paid record RM492,902,971.27 of taxes last year over RM60 million more than in 2011 (RM432,490,447.80) according to the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Shukor Mahfar Friday.

That amount was equivalent to over RM2000 per Bintulu population or about 0.3 percent of the total tax collection target for this year of RM140bil.

Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Shukor said the success was due to the new e-Filing system which allow for faster processing of tax returns.

“With the e-filing, we can process tax returns within 30 days,” he said adding that 80 per cent of the tax payers used the e-filing system last year.
