The action of several vegetable sellers illegally turn SK Assyakirin school bus stop into a makeshift flea market had irked member of the public.
“Nothing wrong with them trying to earn a living. But that bus stop is meant as a shelter for waiting parents and school children not for them to display their vegetables,” complaint Sepian Sepuan.
He said any form of trading is not allowed within school compound by local authorities and these traders do aware of a warning signboard that prohibit such activities in front of the school.
But they simply plead ignorant he lamented. Sepian also alleged sometimes he spotted them selling red meat including pig meat.
The rising cost of living, particularly in Bintulu which is ranked second most expensive in the country after Kuala Lumpur by a survey recently are partly to blame.
It forces many to do whatever they can to supplement their meagre income including selling vegetables as this group does.
Let’s hope local authorities take note and find an amicable solution to this problem.
