Homelessness in KL.

Homelessness in other part of the world is considered a human rights issues not just mere problem of having people that have nowhere to sleep at night.

In the capital city it has become more prevalent and the rising cost of living, acute shortages of affordable housing will likely further exacerbate the problems.

“They are part of KL Don’t delete them,” said Leerang Bato aka Chou Z Lam, a former TV producer turn social activist, who took all the photos featured here.

Fortunately, in Bintulu homelessness is still an isolated cases and jobs still aplenty.

The squatters, often seen as social ill, which it is, had given a temporary refuge to those unable to unable to rent or own a home.

But with houses price skyroceketing, stagnant wages / salaries and government zero squatters policy, with no clear option for people to get access to affordable housing, which also become a privilege instead of rights – cases of homelessness will be inevitable.
