A second robbery attempt at a bank in Jalan Sungai Dua George Town was foiled after the bank security guard shot dead one suspect, and forced another to flee empty-handed.
The duo were believed to be the same men robbing the bank of more than RM60,000 cash on May 29 this year.
Their modus operandi was the same this time – dousing petrol inside the premises and threatening to burn it.
Police are still conducting investigations at the scene.
Penang deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk A. Thaiveegan commended the security guard for his swift action.
“He did his job well,” the deputy police chief said, report the Star.
