IPOH, Oct 4 — A female teacher is believed of have lost RM10,760 after being duped to have purportedly won the third prize, a Cartier jewel, in a lucky draw.

Batu Gajah OCPD, ACP Shahron Anuar Abdul Latif, said the 35-year-old victim who lives in Taman Pusing Mewah, Batu Gajah, lodged a report at the Pusing Police Station yesterday after becoming suspicious that she had been cheated.

The victim was enticed to deposit RM5,760 into an account under the name Mohd Azlan Ramli and RM5,000 into another account under Yap Chee Shyong at the Public Bank last month as security deposit and payment for the company membership, he said.

“But the victim never participated in any contest with the Miilai Hong Kong company or purchased any product from them.

“Checks on the internet also found that the website www.millai.com is the same as www.meimeimall.com website offering the lucky draw and similar product aimed to deceive the victim,” he said in a statement here, today.

Shahron Anuar advised people not to believe in any notification that they have won prizes or the likes.

He asked people who have information on the case to contact the Operations Room of the Batu Gajah district Police Headquarters at 05-366 4322 or investigating officer Insp Mohd Suhadi at 05-362 9222 EXT 9083 or 012-5217752. — Bernama
