UPDATED: A 53-year-old van driver surname Lau died from an explosion after his electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) device suddenly blew up at Bintulu Tamu (Market) yesterday morning.

The victim and his friends were reportedly on their way for a coffee break at a nearby shop when the freak incident happened.

It is believed that the e-cigarette gun exploded. Traces of bullets-like objects were said to be found in the deceased body.

According to an identified friend of Lau told The Borneo Post, Lau didnt’ die instantly of the impact which left a burnt mark on his chest after collapsing.

However police and local hospital said they still investigating the case and the real cause of Lau death can only be known after thorough post-mortem.
