DAP urges Sarawak Chief Minister to enforce his policy of no government contracts, land and concessionaire to family members on his cabinet.
Sarawak DAP chief Chong Chieng Jen, said he risked being seen as toothless, insubordinated by his own cabinet ministers if he didn’t enforce the policy.
“Taking the face value of what he publicly said, no doubt the Chief Minister believes in the philosophy that if you want to be a minister your immediate family members shouldn’t benefits from your position,” Chong said in an exclusive interview with BtuWeekly in Bintulu today.
“If you think it’s good for the state, then you should enforce it on your cabinet,” he said.
The state DAP chief also commanded Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission for its efforts in eradicating corruption particularly in the multi-million illegal logging activities in Sarawak.
He said the party strongly supported MACC efforts and urging them to crackdown harder on the industry known for it corruption.
Chong believed the multi-millions bribery uncovered in recent arrests were merely tip of the iceberg.
“If from a single timber camp they uncovered that few millions. I believed there could be more,” he said.
However, Chong said the success of MACC operations can only be gauged by the number of convictions they will get in court.
“What the point of arrests, charges in court if no one will be convicted for the crime,” Chong said.
