Former headman of Kampung Baru lost everything to fire

Fire around noon today, razed a house at Kampung Baru, believed to be that of Zamahari Ahmad, the village ex-headman.

Kampung Baru Laut ex-headman lost everything – his paste-making (belacan) cottage business, three blocks of house and he is already 76-year old.

The fire broke out around 10.45am left 20 peoples including five tenants who occupied one of the three blocks house.

One of the tenants is an employee of national television station RTM Bintulu. The tenants too lost everything to the fire.

Bintulu firemen able to douse the fire after 30-minutes.

Earlier this year, seventy-five people were left with only clothes on their backs after the fire razed down six wooden houses at a nearby village, Kampung Masjid along Jalan Abang Galau.
