April 24 will be a public holiday in Sarawak to mark the installation of Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan as Malaysia’s 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
A similar announced was made by Putrajaya yesterday.
Chief Secretary to the Federal Government Tan Sri Ali Hamsa on Monday said the declaration is made under the Public Holidays Act 1951, which applies to states in the peninsula as well as the federal territory of Labuan in Borneo Malaysia.
Tan Sri Ali Hamsa on Monday told Sabah and Sarawak to ratify the public holiday under their respective state laws.
The installation ceremony will be held at the Balairung Seri of the Istana Negara here on the morning of April 24.
