Maximum fine of RM250,000 or three years jail term could be imposed on those found selling disposed of chicken wings from Bukit Aup.
Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-Operatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) said action could be taken against those collecting then resell the chicken wings.
“It is stipulated under Section 23 of the Consumer Protection Act 1999, relating to a prohibition against selling unsafe goods,” Sarawakvoice reported.
“We are closely monitoring these developments and, if convicted, the guilty party will be fined up to RM250,000 or three years’ jail or both,” Sarawak KPDNKK enforcement chief, Abdul Hafiz Abdul Rahim said.
According to Hafiz, every government agencies have their own proper disposal procedures.
“Based on our experiences, we will carry out tenders, by making it as animal feed after processing,” he said.
At least three shipping containers of chicken wings were discarded in a huge pit near Bukit Aup in Sibu last Thursday.
