Benjamin Franklin once said “…in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes”.

That is probably true. Here, in Malaysia, even children are actually required by laws to pay taxes – that is if their accumulated earning exceeded RM34,000 in a year.

According to Berita Harian, Lara Alana cute little star of reality television show Lara Oh Lara, will start paying taxes this year.

Lara parents TV host, actors Awal Ashaari and Scha Alyahya, said they have hired an agent to take care of Lara’s financial matters.

“Lara already has her own income tax file with the Inland Revenue Board and will start paying this year,” Lara’s mother Scha told the Malay-language national daily.

Berita Harian said the other child actresses who will be paying taxes are Alana Puteri Balqis, 10, and Mia Sara, 12.

Lara Alana is probably the youngest taxpayer in Malaysia although her taxable earning is not disclosed – but it certainly more than the min of RM34,000 required by the laws.
