Azizul Ammar, 30, of Segambut, Kuala Lumpur is charged under Section 504 of the Penal Code with an intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace at Sibu Magistrate Court.

The former host of a TV program insulted Watson Nyambek after allegedly making degrading remarks mimicked the sound of a goat when he pronounced “Nyambek”, Watson’s patronymic last name during the Sukan Tak Sentral comedy show aired on TV3.

The television program producer Abdul Ghani Mohd. Mokhtar, 41, was also charged with the same offense.

The offense provides for a jail sentence of up to two years, a fine, or both if convicted.

Magistrate Saiful Sayoti released the duo on a bail of RM3,500 in one surety each.

He also ordered them to appear in court on July 4 for pre-trial.

The offense was allegedly committed at 11.30pm on May 22 at Hotel Medan.

Azizul and the production crew were also suspended.

Watson lodged a police report on April 24 against Azizul, urging police to investigate the motive behind the insult despite having received apologies from the production company.
