By BO EDITORIAL   |   Monday, May 25, 2009 -- Updated 12:45 (MST)

najib-pm1Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak defined ’1Malaysia’ concept as comprehensive acceptance, nationhood and social justice when launching National Unity Week in Puchong on Sunday.

“It should be understood based on three main thrusts — comprehensive acceptance, nationhood and social justice,” he said.

According to Najib acceptance is “practised”, it meant the rakyat accepted the country’s multiracialism as an asset or strength.

“The social justice thrust encourages everyone to help each other, regardless of background, religion or race.”

Najib who took over from Abdullah recently as Malaysia’s sixth Prime Minister also said the 1Malaysia concept promoted national unity and it could bring the nation to a better and higher level, if it was understood by all.

“From now on, think how national unity can be our nation’s strength.
